Even at a young age, breasts can lose tone and when it happens to a severe degree, the only solution is to resort to surgery. Loss of firmness depends on a combination of underlying factors, such as breast size, major weight loss, smoking, exposure to sunlight, or even wearing the wrong bra.
In cases of more or less severe breast ptosis (sagging breasts), it is necessary to undergo a mastopexy, also known as a breast lift. In order to give more support and ensure a lasting result for my patients, I use the GalaFlex® Scaffold. GalaFlex® is a kind of internal bra that supports the breast and redistributes and/or reduces the weight of the implants to give more stability.

The GalaFlex® Scaffold
The GalaFlex® scaffold is used to give more support and stability after breast augmentation surgery to achieve a longer-lasting result. It is a biological mesh that acts as an internal bra and supports the breasts so that the weight of the implants can be redistributed and/or reduced, bringing long-term benefit.
This is a real revolution: the Galaflex® mesh engages as a bra that assists the surgery and the regaining of the natural position even in cases of operations on young patients.
It is a biological mesh for surgical use that lifts, supports, repairs and strengthens the breasts. It completely and naturally reabsorbs within 18-24 months.
It has optimal properties for soft tissue reinforcement in both functional and aesthetic procedures. It is made of P4HB, a biopolymer that forms a bioderived, bioabsorbable monofilament suture thread, which, due to its unique properties, resorbs by hydrolysis, making way for strong, resilient tissue that is self-created by the body itself.
Moreover, in the case of mastopexy and with the right indication, exceptional results can be achieved only with the use of the Galaflex® scaffold and without the use of any implants.

WHAT IS P4HB?
P4HB has a unique set of properties, particularly compared to other polymers commonly used in absorbable medical devices, such as polyglycolide (PGA) and polylactide (PLA), which are inherently stiffer materials. The properties of P4HB make it possible to produce high-strength biomaterial without sacrificing elasticity to produce strong and flexible monofilament fibers.
P4HB degrades gradually and predictably by hydrolysis into components that are natural to the human body, resulting in a minimal inflammatory response compared to other soft tissue support devices.
Networks made of P4HB are designed to encourage rapid tissue growth and to reduce the risk of infection. In addition, they are tested in preclinical and clinical trials to evaluate safety and efficacy.
More than 3 million patients worldwide have been implanted with P4HB devices.

Longer Lasting Results
Clinical studies show that within 10 years after surgery, between 32% and 48% of patients undergo a second procedure to revise the results of the initial surgery.
The most common reason for these secondary procedures is a recurrence of soft tissue ptosis.
In preclinical studies, the use of GalaFlex® mesh has been shown to provide 2-4 times the strength of native tissue at 12 months after implantation providing longer lasting results.
