Face Contouring: rejuvenating the face without a scalpel

When patients come to see me for a consultation they more and more frequently ask for a perfect face, without signs of ageing, with well-defined volumes and, above all, without the use of a scalpel.

Face contouring is my answer!

What is face contouring?

Face contouring is facial remodeling through minimally invasive treatments that, thanks to the use of fillers, are able to redefine the contours of the face and specifically sculpt some of its areas, such as the cheekbones, forehead or jawline, in order to rejuvenate it in a comprehensive way. It is a great treatment for both men and women.

Face contouring, also known as liquid facelift, allows nonsurgical enhancement to harmonize the areas of the face most affected by ageing through a combination of noninvasive techniques such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite, botulinum toxin, biostimulation and peels, in order to restore the tone and volume of the face.

In this comprehensive approach to rejuvenation, mainly new generation advanced fillers are used which can interact with tissues and activate their deep stimulation through the production of elastic fibers and collagen, for a long-lasting effect.

Not just static fillers, but fillers that can rejuvenate the face from the inside out. These are very safe and highly resorbable fillers, which when used by experienced hands do not cause any damage.

The areas affected by face contouring

The areas that can be treated are the cheekbones, chin, and forehead in addition to the skin tone in general through different kinds of biostimulants. Over time, the skin tends to lose volume and elasticity, a condition that results in the formation of fine wrinkles or deep furrows in the face.

As we age, the cheekbones, a fundamental element for facial harmony, tend to empty out giving the face a tired and old look while the jawline, essential for balancing the projection of the nose and giving harmony to the face, is prone to losing definition.

Thanks to the liquid facelift procedure, these imperfections can be remedied by reshaping the volumes and restoring plumpness to the skin for an overall and global rejuvenation.

Before performing this treatment, it is important to undergo a thorough examination so that the plastic surgeon can analyze various aspects such as sagging facial muscles, skin tone, wrinkle depth, and facial contour definition. Only through this assessment can it be determined whether there is an indication for treatment and which procedures to combine with others.

Face contouring treatment in an outpatient setting

Although one session is often enough to achieve an excellent result, face contouring also allows progressive restyling through gradual repetition of the procedure over several sessions until the desired effect is achieved.

Since these are fillers and nonsurgical procedures, it is an outpatient treatment lasting about 30 minutes. The fillers are administered through blunt microcannulas, which allow the hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxyapatite to be injected without trauma and in the correct placement. The treatments combined with them-botox or peeling-occur through their normal administration procedure.

The result of the treatment is immediate although to enjoy the final effect it is necessary to wait a few days so that the redness caused by the small trauma of the microlesions passes.

In any case, it is possible to resume normal activities immediately after the liquid facelift.

Face contouring: not all products are equal

I am often asked why there are huge price differences charged for these treatments.

The reason is very simple: there are numerous fillers on the market, of varied nature, quality and safety and, consequently, of different prices.

To avoid unpleasant surprises or complications, it is essential to always select the best and highest quality products, as well as to rely on an experienced and qualified professional, in a world now populated, unfortunately, by more and more improvised doctors.

Face contouring: how long does the treatment last?

The duration of fillers is subjective and depends a lot on the patient's lifestyle, for example, if he or she is a smoker, and the time it takes the body to reabsorb the fillers. On average, new generation products last 6 to 12 months.

Some of the advantages of this treatment, in addition to its noninvasiveness, are its price, which is much less than a surgical treatment such as a facelift, and the absence of the contraindications that surgery can have.
